Dear Parents,
The first day of fall has arrived. Unfortunately, no one notified the weather. We have enjoyed Wonder and have learned many valuable lessons. We are working on being kinder than necessary. I hope that if you have the chance, you will read this WONDERful book. Reading Homework: Instead of our Reading Response Homework, we are supporting the library incentive program "Books Fall Open and Hook You In". This program encourages students to read different genres from our library. Students may select their own titles, but the books they choose must be reading level appropriate (no 3rd grade or lower reading levels). Parents will initial the title as books are completed on the blue form in your child's Homework Folder. In four weeks the entire form will be completed and turned in. I will check on Fridays to make sure books are being completed weekly. Students may complete the form prior to the October 21st deadline. Think Through Math (TTM): All students have completed the Benchmark test. Students will work 15 minutes a minimum per night on TTM. Students can work on avatars or donating to St. Jude's Hospital charity. This program also gives your child Help 1, Help 2, and then Help 3 to access a teacher to help them on a concept they are having difficulty with. Your child's username and password are taped into their planners. Please use the link below to read the parent letter for TTM. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_TcNmgm0xsIbFh5MWZ0UE1ENWM/view?usp=sharing Have a fabulous weekend, Virginia Units of Study: Reading: Nonfiction Text Features Spelling: Week 2 worksheet due Wednesday/ test Thursday Writing: Personal Narrative- A time you were successful after working hard.
