Dear Students and Parents,
We've enjoyed another week of learning! We spent a lot of time in the library with Mrs. Bamford refining our skills with the ipads to support our learning of nonfiction text features. A huge thank you also to the parents for providing lunch for all the staff at our Friday Feast. It was delicious as always and such a treat! Thank you. In math this week, we began learning how to measure angles by using a protractor. This is a new skill for many students and takes a lot of practice to master. If you have an opportunity, spending some time practicing would be helpful. I was able to check in with the students in the process, but some additional practice would benefit them. There is also a measuring angles game on our class links page that is helpful. CONFERENCES: Thank you for setting aside some time to come in and meet one on one about your child. It does take us all working together for sure! Please know I have many conferences to complete each day. I will have to respect all parents' time and will not be able to go past the 20 mins. If your conference is scheduled for in the morning at 7:00am, I will meet you at the front doors by the office at 6:55 to let you in. If you don't remember the time you reserved, please contact me. Library Reading Incentive: Congratulations Thomas and Alex for completing the challenge!!! From the Counselor... Can you believe it? It is the first school day in October and time for our 2nd character word of the month! In October, our school will focus on EMPATHY. Empathy means that you stand in someone else's shoes. Empathy means that you think about how others feel instead of thinking about yourself. How does a friend feel when you say unkind words? How does your teacher feel when you talk too much in class? Think about the feelings of others before you do or say something and you will be demonstrating EMPATHY. In October, if your teacher sees you showing empathy to others, then you will get a sticker to wear all day so that other students will know that you demonstrated our character word of the month!
